New Laptop
So, I’ve been waiting a while for the Core 2 Duo Macbook Pro laptops to arrive. When they were released a week or two ago, I placed my order, and it arrived last Friday. Typing this from it, in fact.

Went for the 2.33GHz option, with 2GB RAM and 120GB HDD. It flies. Since I’ve been previously using a Windows desktop, I had to transfer all my stuff. Not a major headache, but sharing stuff from Windows to Mac is harder than you’d imagine. The good news is that just about everything seems to be sorted now. Everything except msn, that is. Adium works fine from home, but doesn’t like the uni’s proxy server (I feel its pain). That and my backup schedule to strongspace are the only outlying things to fix though.
The great stuff so far: no overheating, whining, or any other problems (touch wood). The spacebar is a bit loud and squeaky at times, but maybe that’s just a passing phase? Didn’t used to be like that when I first started using it. Front Row is a little unstable too. Regardless, seems to be running great so far.
I don’t know what your uni’s connection is like but the way i get around mine and get on to msn within the lecture theatres is to make msn sign in using http this can be found in the msn account preferences. It might be different for your network but it is worth a shot.
Glad your liking your new mac :)
Hmmm, spacebar may not be a big problem for you :)
When it comes to proxies, it seems server protocols are unstable with each other. Never mind… Have a nice day and take care…
Note: Thanks for the domroll script! It powers up the upmost menu in my site. But leaved the copyright notice in .js file, and described that in my ‘legal’ section…
hey.. did you ever figure out about the squeak with the space bar? I have the same problem.. let me know

No, but I’ve got more used to it now anyway.
Eddie: yes, tried all that. Seems that adium’s proxy-passing abilities are not the greatest. amsn works just fine though, but look ugly and doesn’t fit in right (lack of cocoa).
