Ubuntu and Apple

So, yesterday I bought an external hard drive, to back up my data. Then re-partitioned my internal drive to give some space for linux. I’ve been wanting to install some linux distro for a while now, just wasn’t sure which one to go for. Anyway, I re-partitioned, made sure XP still worked, and set about installing Ubuntu (its for human beings, you know).

The install was pretty simple, but for less technical people all the talk of partitions would just turn them straight away. I managed it though, and Everything Just Worked ™ when I first booted up. XP still works just as it did too, which is great too (I’d be pretty annoyed if it didn’t). That’s one thing I miss when using Ubuntu: all the software I regularly use. Sure gaim is fine, but it’s just not got the features that msn messenger + msg plus has. And the music player it comes with is pretty good, but its no iTunes. Damn I want a powerbook… (anyone feeling rich? :P)

So that’s Ubuntu. Still in the process of setting it all up. I’ve also been looking for a new mouse for a while too (the one I’m currently using came with the PC, and is terrible. It has two buttons, a scrollwheel and a ball. Just noticed that Apple have released their new Mighty Mouse, and I fell in love straight away. I love Apple design, and the fact that it’s also PC compatible is just great! So that’s been ordered, and I should have it within 7 days. Looking forward to that!
